De DC Modular Remote Battery Switch (RBS) is een slim bistabiel relais welke geschikt is voor hoge stromen tot 350A continu. De RBS kan eenvoudig worden geïnstalleerd in een technische ruimte of accu compartiment, terwijl deze vanuit een andere locatie kan worden bediend door een kleine paneelschakelaar. Maar de RBS kan bijvoorbeeld ook worden bestuurd door een batterij monitor of een lithium accu BMS.

Naast het op afstand bedienen van de RBS, bieden knoppen aan de bovenkant ook een manier om het hoofdcontact lokaal te openen of te sluiten. Dit is ook vereist voor maritieme applicaties. Voor externe besturing is de RBS uitgerust met een 5-draads interfacekabel. Er is een mogelijkheid voorhanden om signalen voor het openen en sluiten van het hoofdcontact via een twee- of enkeldraads bediening te realiseren. Dit voor een optimale flexibiliteit.

De RBS is een bistabiel relais, wat betekent dat er geen stroomverbruik vanuit accu is wanneer het hoofdcontact in een gesloten positie staat. Dit is een groot voordeel in vergelijking met reguliere relais die een (soms significante-) houdstroom vereisen om het contact gesloten te houden. Een ander voordeel van de RBS zijn de ingebouwde beveiligingen. Er zijn beveiligingen aanwezig tegen te hoge/lage voedingsspanningen en een te hoge temperatuur. Bovendien is er een slimme functie beschikbaar om automatisch lichte tot middelzware contactlassen op te lossen. En ten slotte is de RBS ook ‘ignition protected’ volgens de ISO8846 standaard.
